Oasis’ She’s Electric has been reimagined by an 80-piece orchestra.

In just two weeks, the BBC Philharmonic has written, adapted and performed She’s Electric, with each musician recording their part at home.

She’s Electric was released on Oasis’s hit studio album, (What’s the story) Morning Glory?, in 1995.

(What’s the story) Morning Glory? was the UKs best-selling album of the 1990s and received a BRIT Award for Album of the Year in 1996, spending 10 weeks on the top spot in 1995. It remains the 5th best-selling album in the UK.

BBC Radio Manchester breakfast presenter Becky Want said: “Oasis represent the spirit and heart of Manchester music and swagger! She’s Electric is up-beat and fun, not a usual classic!

“To hear it covered by such a talented orchestra is amazing!”

The song, first played on BBC Radio Manchester breakfast show on July 17, will be added to the Great Northern Playlist on BBC Sounds, a collection of songs made up from one tune from each of the North’s 10 BBC Local Radio areas.

Simon Webb, director of the BBC Philharmonic, said: “The BBC Philharmonic rose up to the challenge and produced a truly incredible take on an Oasis classic!

“The Philharmonic has been playing and broadcasting concerts in the North of England for nearly 100 years and continues to showcase the musical talent of the region.”
