A 41-year-old man is in hospital with serious injuries, where he remains in a stable condition after being hit by a fire engine in the early hours of this morning.
The accident happened on Wilmslow Road at the junction with School Lane around 12.40 The fire engine en route to an emergency.
PC Paul Joynson, of GMP’s Serious Investigation Collision Unit, said: “First and foremost our thoughts are with the injured male and we hope very much that he makes a speedy recovery.
“Whilst this incident took place in the early hours of the morning, we are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed anything and has any information that could assist our enquiries.
“If you have any information – no matter how insignificant you may think it is – please don’t hesitate to get in touch as a matter of urgency.”
