Operation Green Jacket has made it’s 43rd arrest.
In the third arrest in one week, a 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of rape in the Melton Mowbray area of Leicestershire.
He remains in police custody for questioning.
Earlier this week a 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of rape and a 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of sexual activity with a child in Burnage and Moss Side
Operation Green Jacket is the multi-agency operation launched in 2019, ahead of the publication of ‘An assurance review of Operation Augusta’ in 2020. Led by GMP’s Child Sexual Exploitation Major Investigation Team (CSE MIT) – a resource dedicated to investigating the most serious and complex cases to ensure consistently high standards, it focusses on offending against vulnerable young people in the South Manchester area in the early 2000s.
