A man will appear in court today charged with the murder of 36 year Robert Smethurst in a bar in Bolton in the early hours of Thursday morning
Robert Owen Greenhalgh aged 31, of no fixed abode, will appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court.
He is also charged with an assault.
Mr Smethurst was found unconscious in a bar on Bradshawgate in Bolton town centre, was treated at the scene by police officers and NWAS paramedics but died later at hospital.
His wife Amanda said: “My husband and father to our two beautiful angels was the most loving, selfless and supportive man.
“Our family and friends have been utterly destroyed by his loss.”
