A 29 year old woman hospital with serious head injuries where she remains in an stable condition after being attacked in the Strangeways area of Manchester.
The attack happened around 8.20am on Sunday morning assault on Robert Street.
An investigation is underway.
Detective Inspector Jen Tattersall, of GMP’s City of Manchester district, said: “This was an extremely serious assault which could easily have resulted in even more serious consequences. Our thoughts are with the victim and her loved ones as she continues to receive treatment in hospital.
“Extensive enquiries are ongoing but, so far, we have established that there were a number of people in the area at the time, despite this assault happening relatively early on a Sunday morning. We also have reason to believe that some of those people have footage on their mobile phones.
“We are following a number of positive lines of enquiry but we need the public’s help in piecing together exactly what has happened.
“I would like to appeal to anyone with information or photos/ videos which may assist us with our investigation to contact us without hesitation. A young woman was seriously injured and we are committed to identifying the person responsible and bringing them in to face justice.”
