A 28 year old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Ann Widdecombe
He is from South Yorkshire as is described as a white British national”
In a press conference this morning Devon and Cornwall Police say there is no suggestion of terror or political motive surrounding the alleged murder
Matt Longman, assistant chief constable of Devon and Cornwall Police, said: “At this point there is still no information to suggest that this is a terrorism-related incident and at this point we are not looking at anyone else in connection to this murder.
“Detectives remain open-minded about the potential motive. At this stage there is nothing to suggest it was politically motivated.”
Police arrested a 26-year-old man on Friday on suspicion of murder.
He was released and ruled out of police inquiries. He is believed to be a tradesman and father of one who lives in Newton Abbot.
