Rachel Reeves has warned Andy Burnham that he must be clear about what he wants to achieve.
The Chancellor in what could be her last TB interview in that position said that the next PM must have a “worked-through plan, because governing is hard in Britain, and lots of challenges and shocks will come his way.”
She said that he must “stay laser-focused on those things that have always motivated him” — whatever the global turbulence.
She said that the success of any Labour government requires combining “radical change with credibility and with trust,” and warned that the party often talks about the first without touching on the second.
