Following a hugely successful opening few months in Manchester, ‘trapbox’ bar and restaurant pop-up, 202 Kitchen, has announced it will be moving to a bigger, more permanent location in the city.
Currently situated in a temporary location on Bridge Street, 202 Kitchen opened officially in August to rave reviews, bringing with it all-pink decor, deliciously indulgent food and a much-loved Instagrammable backdrop.
Having now secured a permanent home (with details to be announced very soon), 202 Kitchen promises to return bigger and better than ever before with brand-new vibrant interior features and copious amounts of indoor/outdoor space.
Having created over 80 new jobs for the Manchester area since launching in August, the news of a new permanent venue will come as a huge boost to the city’s hospitality industry.
It will also be music to the ears of 202 Kitchen’s huge Instagram fanbase, which has grown to over 50,000 followers since it opened its doors. Many local celebrities have been spotted partying at the venue, with the likes of Hollyoaks’ Jorgie Porter, Coronation Street’s Kimberly Hart-Simpson and Cheshire Housewives’ Tanya Bardsley, all being photographed by paparazzi.
With the new home of 202 Kitchen will come a new menu capturing indulgent tastes and flavours from around the globe in the form of light bites and small plates. Of course, the new items will sit alongside 202’s ‘trapbox’ cuisine, which they have become known for.
The relatively new ‘trapbox’ foodie concept sees colourful cultural foods such as mac’n’cheese, waffles, fried chicken, burgers, and grilled seafood piled into a box.
Trapbox has become an increasingly popular trend, starting out with untrained cooks showing off their food via social media and establishing a following and loyal customer base. There are Trapbox home chefs all over the UK, with one of the most famous being Prince Owusu, who was featured on BBC 2’s Million Pound Menu.
“We were absolutely overwhelmed with the positive reception we’ve received since opening 202 Kitchen Manchester back in August. This year has been a difficult one for the hospitality industry as a whole and we took a gamble when we chose to open during the regional lockdown, however, we’ve quickly established an incredible customer base and made our mark in the city and feel now is the time for us to continue to grow and move to a permanent home where we can really look to expand the 202 Kitchen brand further.”
