While much of life is on pause for a few weeks, Salvi’s Deli in Manchester’s Corn Exchange is well and truly open and inviting one and all to come along and grab a small slice of Neapolitan life during the lockdown.

Visitors will be greeted by the one and only Roberto; a true Salvi’s legend who has been at the Deli helm since the very beginning.

Stop by, say hello and he will talk anyone who asks through the varied, 100% authentic Italian line-up on offer.

The Deli is bursting at the seams with the very best, hand-selected, imported produce from Italy and first on the list is the meat section; fully stocked with the highest quality Pancetta, Prosciutto, Guanciale, Porchetta and Bresaola from Parma and headlined by the deliciously spicy N’duja from the Calabria region.

Next up is the cheese section; led by the exquisitely juicy, creamy and ever-so-slightly slightly sour Mozzarella di Bufala from the Campania region and backed up by a mouthwatering selection of the finest Scamorza, Pecorino and Parmesan.

Last and never least comes the absolute best of all the rest; the Deli is packed full of assorted pastas, sauces, ridiculously tasty homemade pesto, wines, beers, Italian aperitivo drinks and it would just be Sicily not to mention the oh-so-sweet Cannoli made from authentic goats’ ricotta.

Customers can trust that each and every Deli purchase is quality assured; not only has Salvi’s been awarded the prestigious Ospitalita Italiana Award (twice!), but virtually every single product on offer in the Deli is DOP stamped to verify its authenticity.

For those not in the know, DOP is short for Denominazione di Origine Protetta (literally “Protected Designation of Origin”) and it’s a guarantee that the food was made in a specific Italian region by local farmers and artisans, using traditional methods.

The Salvi’s family is your family and it goes without saying that they want to keep you well-fed for the next few weeks and beyond but furthermore if anyone just wants to see a friendly face and have a much-needed chat then the Deli door is always open and Roberto’s warm and welcoming smile will be there to greet you.

“We love our customers, they are just like family to us and right now, we want to give something back! When our doors are open, they are really open and we want anyone who is struggling or just needs to see a friendly face to come down to the Deli, have a look around, buy some delicious Italian produce… but most of all walk away with a smile on their face.”

(Maurizio Cecco, Salvi’s owner)
