An 18-year-old man, who self-presented at a police station, has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody for questioning.
The arrest followed a police appeal last Friday after a man died in hospital a week after being found unconscious at a bus stop in Winslow Road in Withington.
Detective Chief Inspector Dan Clegg of GMP’s Major Incident Team: “As always our thoughts are firmly with the family of the man who has sadly lost his life following this incident and they are currently receiving support from specialist officers.
“We currently have one man in custody for questioning but our investigation remains ongoing and I would encourage anyone who may have information, or dash-cam footage, to contact police and assist us with our enquiries.”
