A teenager has been charged after a number of people including an officer were threatened with a BB gun in Moston on Friday evening.

A 14-year-old boy – who cannot be named for legal reasons – has been charged with possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

He has been remanded in to custody to appear before Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court on Monday 1 April 2019.

Police were called to reports of a man with a suspected firearm on Audery Street in North Manchester.

At around 7pm a man threatened three young girls with a BB/pellet gun as they were playing near to their home.

Officers attended and searched the area but found no trace of the offender.

Around two hours later, police received further reports that a man had entered ASDA supermarket at Harpurhey Shopping Centre where he threatened customers and staff.

A police community support officer – who was on duty in the area at the time – was also threatened by the man outside of the supermarket before he fled the scene.
