FIRE service staff across Greater Manchester have been recognised for their achievements in the community.
Twenty-three members of Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) staff were recognised on Monday, December 19, at the Service’s Colleague Recognition awards.
Colleague Recognition is a quarterly internal awards programme that encourages staff members to nominate their colleagues for going above and beyond in their role and for contributing towards the success of the organisation.
Nominations included a firefighter who came to the aid of a distressed young woman who was planning to take her own life, a colleague who has hosted countless Prince’s Trust young people on work experience and GMFRS Other Emergencies Co-ordinator for being instrumental in the success of the Safe Drive, Stay Alive initiative in Greater Manchester.
Peter O’Reilly, County Fire Officer and Chief Executive, hosted recipients at the ceremony at GMFRS’ Training and Development Centre and presented each with a certificate.
Talking about the event Peter O’Reilly said: “It’s fantastic to see colleagues recognising each other’s work and their contribution towards the success of GMFRS.
“Everyone recognised at the ceremony plays a part in the bigger picture of the organisation that ultimately contributes towards protecting and improving the lives of the people of Greater Manchester.”
