Dave Pace’s team came away from the Giant Axe with a hard fought for point ending Lancaster’s run of five successive wins.

The Bloods, after two blank weekends, gave a debut to new loan signing Sam Gibson at left back and with skipper James Hampson out through injury, Ben Barber played up front with Brandon Zibaka leading the attack.

In a first half with few chances it was the home side that created most of the chances with both Carney and Mercer going close.

Droylsden had to wait until near the half hour mark for their first shot at goal, an ambition attempt from outside the area from centre half Lee O’Brien.

At the other end a Winder free kick was easily saved by Steve James in the Bloods goal but just before half time, a Billy Hasler Cregg shot was well saved by Hale in the Lancaster goal.

Droylsden started the second half the brighter of the two teams, Dan Grimshaw heading just over the bar from a corner.

Minutes later they should have been in front, good work from Domaine Rouse putting Ben Barber through but he shot wide.

As the game began to open out, Lancaster though they had scored as Winder put in a great cross from the left and Kilifin headed home only for the linesmen to flag for offside.

The Bloods brought on Smith for Zibaka and were nearly rewarded with a goal after a driving run by the centre forward saw his shot flash just wide of the far post with the keeper beaten.

But it was the home side took the lead, The Bloods losing possession on the edge of the area and substiute  Zach Clark heading in from close range from a good ball in from Carney.

The Bloods though were soon level as the game swung back.Billy Hasler Cregg converting from the penalty spot after being brought down in the area.

Minutes later the Bloods nearly took the lead, a combination of the post and a clearance off the line denying Dominic Smith and the away side finished the game the stronger.
