Swedish retailer Clas Ohlson has announced it will be closing most of its UK stores, which includes its store in Manchester Arndale Centre.

Only its Reading branch will remain open in Britain as the store confirmed that it will be moving its operation online.

The chain’s stores in Germany will also close after it reported “significant losses” this week across its UK and Germany operations.

The company added around 150 staff would lose their jobs following the closures.

After 10 years, the business in the UK is continuing to incur significant losses despite measures in recent years to optimise the store network.” CEO Lotta Lyra said.
