• Construction in Manchester is booming with levels reaching highs not seen since before the financial crash of 2008.

That’s the conclusion of the latest Deloitte Real Estate Crane Survey, covering Manchester, Leeds Birmingham and Belfast

In Manchester a record 22 residential projects broke ground on site last year, eight more than the previous high of 14 in 2007, and will deliver nearly 7,000 units to the market.

“Sentiment towards city centre development is buoyant with residential rising to new levels, quite literally in Manchester, with the addition of towers that will alter the city skyline.” says  Simon Bedford, local government development partner at Deloitte Real Estate, adding:

“Construction activity has not just matched 2007, it has completely blown those figures out of the water, demonstrating unparalleled scale and volume of development.”
