Hot on the heels of a sold out headline show at London’s Jazz Café this month, Ady Suleiman announces the release of his debut album, Memories, and a nationwide headline UK tour for Spring 2018 which includes a date at Manchester’s Gorilla

Released on March 9th 2018, Memories is a bold collection of uninhibited songs inspired by Ady’s personal experiences. Drawing on touchstones of British adolescence, the album covers a broad range of themes – from love and relationships through to mental health issues.

“Every song tells a story and shares my thoughts on situations and relationships – my experiences as a young man.” Says Ady. “There’s a rawness and emotion throughout that I never wanted to lose. I didn’t want overproduced songs. You can still hear a mistake I made on the guitar in Longing For Your Love. I wanted it kept in. Mistakes are what make you human – the important thing is to keep learning.”

All the tracks on Memories are written by Ady, and  co-produced by Ady alongside the likes of Ivor Novello winning Cassel The Beat Maker (Akala, Plan B), Richard Archer, Eric Appapolay (Neneh Cherry, Craig David, Lionel Ritchie) and Grades (Bastille, Dua Lipa, Khalid). Highlights include forthcoming single ‘Need Somebody To Love’ which sees Ady intertwine sprawling jazz with adolescent infatuation over a teardrop drumbeat and sparse choral samples.

Memories will be released on Suleiman’s own label imprint, Pemba, named after Pemba Island in the Zanzibar Archipelago, where his father was born and raised and where his creative and cultural roots stem from.

A deft songwriter and a singer with soulful brilliance, Ady Suleiman has a rich era-spanning appreciation of music, and an innate need to turn life experiences into narrative. His timelessly classic yet fresh sound and lyrical distinctiveness has garnered him a broad range of influential fans from both sides of the Atlantic – from Chance the Rapper, Leon Bridges and Joey Bada$$ through to Labrinth, Michael Kiwanuka, Laura Mvula and Lianne Le Havas. Awarded ‘Breakthrough Act of the Year’ at Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide Awards, Ady has also been earmarked as an artist to watch by the likes of Fader, NME, Complex, The Line of Best Fit and Mahogany to The Independent and GQ (to name but a few).

Ady’s March 2018 nationwide tour is his third headline UK tour to date and will encompass shows in Manchester (at Gorilla), London (at Koko) and Birmingham (at O2 Institute 2). Tickets go on sale on Friday 24th November at 9am and will be available to purchase from: http://gigst.rs/AdySul
