A Wythenshawe man has been jailed for over seven years after pleading guilty to multiple sex offences against a girl under thirteen
Thirty five year old Kane Batey was arrested in April 2025 and an investigation found that he shared a number of indecent images with the victim and coerced her into sharing images of herself with him.
He was also issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, stopping him from being in contact with anyone under the age of 18 and having any devices with access to the internet indefinitely and subject to the sex offender register for an indefinite period
Batey went by the name ‘K’ when contacting the victim, and told her he was 19 years old. After initially messaging the victim through TikTok in December 2024, he asked to move the conversation to WhatsApp and groomed her into sharing indecent content.
Batey shared a number of indecent images and messages with the victim, spoke with her on the phone, and coerced her into sharing images of herself with him.
Martin Fox, from OCAIT and the OIC for this case said: “This sentence reflects the severity of these offences and the damage this has caused to the victim.
“Batey used his social media platforms to exploit a vulnerable young girl, for his own benefit and this outcome sends a clear message that such behaviour will be met with firm consequences.
“I’d like to thank the victim for her immense bravery during the course of this investigation, and she continues to be supported by our specialist officers.
“Our priority remains the protection of our communities, specifically our children, and it is my hope this sentencing provides some security and peace for the victim and her family.
“Our officers will continue to work tirelessly to pursue offenders and bring them to justice.
“Anybody who thinks they may have been a victim of sexual abuse can contact Greater Manchester Police at any time. We will provide support, conduct thorough investigations, and take firm action against offenders.
“Your allegations will be taken seriously, and you will be treated with dignity and respect.”
