Manchester marks the first destination in the UK for the global exhibition, which has welcomed over 3.5M visitorsacross 36 cities – from Berlin to Stockholm – marvelling over recreations of Banksy’s most iconic works, from the notorious Girl With Balloon shredding moment, the thought provoking Devolved Parliament, to a fully “Banksified” London Underground carriage and a towering 7-foot elephant installation.

The Mystery of Banksy – A Genius Mind has received outstanding visitor satisfaction scores, with guest surveys at previous exhibitions showing over 96% of visitor expectations were met or exceeded. In line with Banksy’s own principle that “Copyright is for losers © TM”, this tribute is not officially authorised, owing to the artist’s continued anonymity.

John Carrigan, Director of Cartel Events Limited, says, “We’re excited to launch the ‘Mystery of Banksy – A Genius Mind’ in Manchester, the UK’s hub of modern culture. In partnership with Europe’s leading entertainment promoter, COFO Exhibitions, which holds 50 years of experience in revolutionary international exhibitions, visitors can expect a spectacle of reenvisioned accessible artworks for all.’’

To launch, Mancunians can witness magnificent visual spectacles across the city from Saturday, 22nd November, with Banksy images projected on landmarks, including the Depot and Manchester Marriott Hotel Piccadilly.

The Mystery of Banksy has also announced The Christie Charity as their official partner for the exhibition.

The Christie is a specialist cancer centre in Manchester that has been operating for over 120 years, caring for more than 60,000 patients annually.

MoB will be raising money towards a new Total Body PET-CT scanner through “tap to donate” spots around the exhibition, alongside a dedicated charity event takeover and an exclusively commissioned artwork which will be donated for auction. Once achieved, The Christie will have one of 5 Total Body PET-CT scanners in the UK, used to help diagnose a range of different cancers, reduce patient waiting times and increase available slots for patients.

Louise Hadley, Chief Executive of The Christie Charity, says: “We are absolutely thrilled to be the chosen charity for The Mystery of Banksy, A Genius Mind exhibition. It is an incredibly exciting opportunity for us and one that will ultimately benefit cancer patients both now and in the future.”
