Bolton Manager Ian Evatt hailed his strikeforce as Wanderers turned on the power to record their second 3-0 win of the league campaign.

Dion Charles netted twice – either side of a Liam Smith own-goal – as Wanderers scored three times before the break to wrap up the points at Cheltenham Town.

“We started the game really well and took over early. We managed to turn our pressure into goals, which is really important,” said Evatt, whose team sits top of the fledgling League One table.” said Evatt

“Some of the play and inter-changing was exceptional. We’ve worked very hard on that in pre-season and to see it come off was excellent.

It was two wins in two for Wigan as they came for behind to beat Northampton Town 2-1 ,Charlie Hughes with the equaliser, before Callum McManaman curled in the winner.

Salford City played out a 1-1 draw with Crawley Town in the first game of 2023-24 at The Peninsula Stadium.
