Leam Richardson was pleased by his side’s response to going behind in their 1-1 draw with Bristol City in the Championship on Saturday afternoon.
Latics fell behind during the opening stages of the Championship clash courtesy of Andreas Weimann’s early strike, however, the home side brought the game back level in the 68th minute through Will Keane’s first of the season. Testament to their character and self-belief, Latics cranked up the pressure in an attempt to claim all three points, and despite coming close to forcing a winner, the scores remained locked at the DW Stadium.
Speaking to Latics TV, Richardson was pleased by the manner in which his side responded after falling behind, in addition to their desire to go on and win the game.
“It was pleasing in the main,” he said.“I thought we started the game terrifically well, and after the first imbalance to our side, we went 1-0 down. To respond the way we did – especially at the end of the first half and continued into the second – and have the impetus to go on and win the game (was a huge positive).“To come back from behind and get a result is very pleasing.”
