The Labour leader was in Salford ahead of a meeting of the Shadow Cabinet to finalise plans to stop No Deal.

He called Boris Johnson’s plans to shut down Parliament to force through a No Deal Brexit “an attack on democracy which will be resisted.” and described a no deal Brexit as a Trump deal Brexit

“unless we stop Johnson’s government now it is a headlong rush into the arms of Donald Trump.” he told the audience.

During the speech which appeared aim to a certain extent on leave voting Labour areas, Corbyn promised that his party would commit fully to a new Transpennie Rail Link between Liverpool and Hull

“We will invest in crossrail for the north, from Liverpool to Hull to ensure the north is no longer held back. We will power up the north with a serious industrial strategy”

Corbyn was critical of the government’ boasting about a northern powerhouse while refusing to fund proper infrastructure in the north describing it as an insult.

Corbyn said that this week could be the last chance to stop a No Deal Brexit while calling for a General Election and letting the people decide.

Labour he said would give the people credible options on a new referendum include to vote on revoking Article 50.

Earlier the Shadow Transport Secretary said that a No Deal Brexit would throw UK’s transport networks into chaos.

Andy McDonald MP responding to Government analysis which shows there would be chaos in Dover in the event of No Deal Brexit, said:

“This analysis confirms what industry has been telling the Government for years: a No Deal Brexit would throw the UK’s transport networks into chaos and cause a huge amount of disruption.

“The Government cannot be trusted to tell the truth. They have been denying the severity of a No Deal Brexit even when their own internal analysis warns of food and medicine shortages.
