United Utilities is continuing its efforts to restore the water supply in the Flixton and Partington areas, following yesterday’s burst water main, and subsequent, smaller bursts overnight, which are affecting supply to local properties.

Water tankers remain on site, pumping additional water into the network to help restore supply and pressure.

Meanwhile, United Utilities is working to repair the main pipeline on Flixton Road that burst yesterday morning.

Road closures remain in place, causing some local delays.

A United Utilities spokesperson said:

“Our teams are making good progress on the burst mains repair on Flixton Road, Urmston. Our dedicated customer team remain on site to support residents impacted by the burst, alongside our third party contractors Forshaws and Davies Group. We are also working closely with Trafford Council to support those customers who may have additional requirements.

“Due to the complexity of the repair, and pressures within the water network, subsequent smaller bursts have been reported on Repton Avenue, Mile Road, Isherwood Road, Cedar Drive and at the junction of Derbyshire and Cumberland roads. Engineers are on site and repairs are underway, but some customers may be experiencing no water, or low water pressure as a result. We are working quickly to have these resolved as soon as possible, and thank our customers for their patience.”
