This is the moment a suspected burglar was arrested hiding in a bed while trying to evade justice.

David Dale Thompson aged 42 of no fixed abode, was caught on 15 January last year following proactive patrols by neighbourhood officers across Rusholme and Moss Side.

He’s now been sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to four counts of residential burglary.

Neighbourhood officers along with the neighbourhood district tasking team were out in the Rusholme and Moss Side areas due to a high number of reports of burglaries in the area.

Whilst on patrol, they spotted Thompson acting suspiciously while riding a bike just before 5pm.

A police officer followed him to a property on Boscombe Street and called for more officers to attend.

After gaining entry to the address, officers suspected something was wrong when they entered one of the rooms.

After lifting up the bed, they found Thompson hiding in the storage compartment attempting to evade police capture.
