Manchester locals, Ian Wang and Sarah Trevarthen are both set to compete alongside three other contenders, under the glare of the spotlight in a bid to become the next BBC Mastermind champion.
Ian who is an Auditor, got the perfect round, answering all answers correct in his semi-final on the films of studio Ghibli. His specialist subject for the final will be the TV Film & Works of Steve McQueen
If Ian, aged 23 wins, he will break current champion, Jonathan Gibson’s record. He said: “To be the youngest winner would be incredible. I watched Jonathan’s win last year, it would be great to follow in his footsteps. Jonathan I’m coming for you!”
Environmental and Safety Consultant Sarah, who only started takin quizzing in the last few years will also join the finale following her semi-final tie-break win. Sarah’s specialist subject will be Dame Barbara Hepworth.
The Grand Final will air on BBC Two on Monday 11 April at 8:00pm, where this year’s champion will be crowned.
