Two teenagers will appear at Manchester Magistrate’s Court tomorrow after two paramedics and a woman were assaulted in Benchill and a rapid response vehicle stolen yesterday.

Joshua Stokes aged 18 of Greatfield Road, Wythenshawe has been charged with assault by wounding, aggravated vehicle taking and driving with no insurance.

Brandon Collins also aged 18 of Greatfield Road, Wythenshawe has been charged with aggravated vehicle taking, driving with no insurance, two counts of assault and racially aggravated public order.

They both remain in custody.

The charges relate to an incident in the early hours of Saturday when police received a report of a disturbance where a woman had been assaulted on Alderue Avenue, Benchill.

Paramedics responding to the incident were also assaulted and a NWAS Rapid Response Vehicle was stolen from the scene before it was crashed and abandoned a short distance away on Greenwood Road, opposite the junction with Royalthorn Road.
