A 26-year-old man and 18-year-old woman on suspicion of assault following an attack outside a bar in Manchester at the weekend.

A man his 30s had been assaulted outside Barca bar in Catalan Square on Friday evening with a machete.

He remains in hospital for treatment for life-changing injuries.

The man remains in custody for questioning and the woman has since been bailed pending further enquiries.

Detective Inspector Mark Davis of GMP’s City of Manchester Division, said: “While our team of dedicated detectives continue with enquiries, the victim is still receiving treatment for his serious injuries.

“We need to know who is responsible for this and may only be able to do so with your help so I’m appealing for any information from the public that may help us.”
