AA man in his 30s and a woman in her 20s have been detained on suspicion of fraud by false representation and remain in custody for questioning.
The arrests come on the back of an investigation which has seen a family send approximately £17,000 over a nine-month period to an individual pretending to be social worker.
A third man in his 30s was arrested and interviewed back in October and remains on bail pending further investigations.
Detective Inspector Tim Flint from our Economic Crime Unit said: “Fraud by false representation is a serious crime that can have devastating consequences for victims. Our Economic Crime Unit works tirelessly to identify and bring offenders to justice, protecting the public from those who seek to exploit trust for financial gain.
“These arrests demonstrate our commitment to tackling fraud and supporting those affected.
