Two men aged 22 and 20  have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in Salford after after a double shooting incident last weekend in Salford.

Teo men arrived at accident and emergency with gunshot wounds last Friday night and gun shots were fired on Whit Lane just half an hour later although no injuries were reported to police.

Investigations were launched and extensive enquiries have led officers to believe that the men sustained their injuries on Stanton Avenue and also established a link with the firearms discharge on Whit Lane.

The two men have both been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. They remain in police custody.

Detective Inspector Rebecca Mills, of GMP’s Salford district, said: “I hope these two arrests demonstrate to the public just how seriously we take incidents of this nature. Behaviour like this is dangerous and is reckless. We will not tolerate the use of weapons on our streets.”

“I would also like to take this opportunity to further appeal to anyone with information. Whilst we have made two arrests, our investigation does not stop here and we will actively pursue any further lines of enquiry.”
