Tributes have been paid to the Coronation Street actress Barbara Young who has died at the age of 92
Barbara had a number of parts in Coronation Street including as Barbara Platt, the mother of Martin Platt, who married Gail, and most recently as Rita Sullivan’s friend Doreen Fenwick.
Her daughter Liza Pulman, in a statement, wrote that her beautiful’ mother had ‘slipped away.’
As well as her role in Corrie, Young starred in Last of The Summer Wine from 2008 until 2010.
She played Doreen from 2006 until 2007 but also starred in Channel 5 soap Family Affairs for six years between 1999 and 2005, and played multiple roles in The Bill.
Barbara also for a long stage career from Joan Littlewood’s Theatre Workshop to Shakespeare and West End hits such as Stepping Out.
