schuh Kids will open on Saturday 13th August at Trafford Centre, located next door to schuh’s existing store on the upper level

schuh, a leading fashion footwear retailer with over 120 stores in the UK, Ireland and online, is opening its first standalone kids’ store in Manchester, with Trafford Centre the chosen retail destination for this exciting brand extension.

schuh Kids will open on Saturday 13th August at Trafford Centre, located next door to schuh’s existing store on the upper level.

This will be the second kids’ store schuh has opened featuring its newly designed kids’ concept and the first in Manchester.  The store design aims to give the kids a custom ‘mini me’ experience of the main schuh store design concept.

The store layout is gender neutral, presenting collections by brand and moving away from the traditional girl and boy categorisation.  This layout delivers a shopping experience that fosters self-expression rather than leading by gender. Fitted with tactile fabrics and fun furniture for mini shoppers, little ones will also be entertained with visually stimulating displays and an interactive gaming station. Payment in the new store is via mobile transactions at the point of sale, creating a frictionless customer experience.

Opening just in time for ‘back to school’ shopping, the schuh back to school collection offers an extensive range of products with access to the best brands and the latest styles. The store is fully stocked with classic Dr. Martens and school favourite Kickers – with a variety of iconic styles now available in vegan options. The store will also be stocked with the exclusive schuh own-label range – perfect for the classroom wardrobe and, with prices starting at just £25.00, there are styles to suit all budgets. Complete the look with a school bag, and customers will get £5.00 off when purchasing with of a pair of shoes.

Head over to Trafford Centre Saturday 13th August for an exclusive store event complete with entertainment, face-painting and special offers for ‘back to school’ essentials.

Zoe Inman, Centre Director at Trafford Centre said, “We’re delighted to welcome schuh Kids to Trafford Centre this month. Following the success of the existing schuh store, the new kids’ standalone is an incredible growth opportunity for both schuh and the centre, bringing both loyal and new customers to the Northwest.”

Donna MacLeod, Kids Operations Manager added, “Opening a new store always causes a certain amount of anticipation but even more so when it means we can be neighbours with our existing schuh store. This standalone store will allow us to deliver a shopping experience for our Manchester customers that is totally dedicated to kids, making schuh the go-to destination for children’s shoes all year round.”

A core shopping incentive: schuh also hosts a takeback scheme ‘Too Big For Your Boots’, encouraging parents and kids to bring down their old, worn shoes in return for £5 off a brand-new pair. The £5 off vouchers are then redeemable online or in-store with their next purchase. Working with Recyclatex, shoe donations are collected from store resulting in approximately 98% of all components and materials being reused.

For every tonne collected, the funds raised are used to support schuh’s sustainability partner of choice, the World Land Trust, and their Plant a Tree programme. Its aim is to essentially create a circular economy with an effort to make footwear more sustainable. schuh has now planted 9,527 trees (as of December 21) as a direct result of the nationwide takeback scheme.
