Police in Rusholme have made three arrests last night following a series of moped robberies in the area.
Three teenage boys between the ages of 16 and 17 have been arrested on suspicion of robbery and remain in police custody for questioning.
These arrests have come after a series of moped thefts were reported in the Rusholme area yesterday.
Officers believe that a group have been targeting delivery riders whilst they were delivering food by assaulting them, knocking them off their bikes before stealing the mopeds.
Response officers on patrol became aware of the incident through their police radios and were able to work with the victims to identify the bikes stolen.
Sergeant Alex Vernon of GMP’s City of Manchester district, said: “This is a really good example of proactive policing, which has resulted in two bikes being recovered and three people arrested.
“We have increased our visibility in the target areas to ensure we can swiftly identify, disrupt and arrest anyone who thinks that this behaviour is acceptable.”
