Police have arrested three men – aged 35, 52 and 54 – at an address in Farnworth Drive, Rusholme on suspicion of theft of pedal cycles and handling stolen goods. They remain in custody for questioning.

Following the arrests, officers were also able to recover nine pedal cycles, bike parts and power tools.

Superintendent Phil Spurgeon, of GMP’s City of Manchester District, said: “As a cyclist myself, bike theft is a crime that is close to my heart and it makes me feel annoyed and upset whenever someone reports a bike theft.

“We will always investigate incidents such as this thoroughly, exploring every opportunity to get the bike back to the owner and hold the thieves to account.

“Today’s arrests show that our officers do care about this issue and we will now work relentlessly to identify the bikes and tools we have recovered today and re-unite the belongings with their owners.”
