Three men will appear in court this morning following the incident in the early hours of Saturday morning which saw two police officers assaulted in Middleton.
Jonathan Cottrell aged 34 of Reedsdale Road, Moston has been charged with actual bodily harm, assault by beating and violent disorder
Lee Herbert aged 29, of Longford Street, Heywood has been charged with actual bodily harm and violent disorder
Liam Baker aged 23 of Gilmour Street, Middleton has been charged with violent disorder.
The charges follow the incident when two police officers saw a large group of men fighting.
They stopped to intervene and were assaulted.
The male officer was punched in the head, knocking him unconscious. The female officer was also punched, dragged to the floor and then stamped on.
Both officers were taken to hospital but have since been discharged and are recovering at home
