From 3 October 2016, three and a half miles of the A663 Broadway are to be resurfaced, from the junction with the A627 (M) at Holden Fold, to Moston Lane East, south of junction 21, M60.
The £2.2 million Highways England investment will improve the road to make it smoother and safer for drivers and quieter for residents.

Highways England will replace the old asphalt with a low-noise, smooth surface and replace worn markings with new ones. Studs and traffic detector loops will also be replaced as well as manhole covers.

Project manager John Lyssejko said:

“Currently the Broadway is in a poor state of repair with chips, fretting and potholes and deeper structural issues in places. We need to get in there and get it sorted for the benefit of drivers and local residents.

We work at night to keep traffic disruption to a minimum. We will keep residents fully informed when work is taking place in their neighbourhood, and aim to keep noise to a minimum.”

All work will be carried out in sections under night closures, between the hours of 8pm and 5am (Monday to Friday nights) with some weekend working between 8pm and 7am (Saturday and Sunday night). Between 7 November and Christmas, work will only take place from Monday to Wednesday. Signed diversions will be in place.

Residents will be kept informed by letter when the work is likely to affect them.

The project is likely to be completed by the end of January.
