The North West Association of Directors of Adult Social Services is on a mission to recruit thousands of people across the region to support adult social care services during the on-going Coronavirus pandemic.

Councils across the North-West of England have stated that they have seen a reduction in staff numbers of between 25 and 50 per cent due to factors related to Covid-19.

As a result, the North West Association of Directors of Adult Social Services is looking to recruit to key worker roles including care workers within residential care settings and in people’s own homes as well as cleaners, cooks and many more.

Roles will vary but typically employees would be required to work in care homes or people’s own homes and would carry out tasks such as personal care, supporting vulnerable people to undertake activities, mealtime preparation and various other responsibilities.

Delyth Curtis, Deputy Chief Executive, Cheshire West and Chester Council, said: “There is a real issue mounting across Adult Social Care so we have joined together to launch this much needed recruitment campaign.”

“With an estimated one in four workers likely to be furloughed in the UK there is a huge number of people with incredible skills that would be greatly valued within Adult Social Care right now.

“These are incredibly fulfilling and rewarding roles supporting some of the most vulnerable people in our communities when they need it most. Applicants don’t need to have previous experience within social care. As long as you have time and are willing to help people and get involved, we would be more than happy to welcome you to the team.”

New recruits – all of which will receive DBS and reference checks – would receive a basic induction and training including moving and handling, safeguarding, and food preparation. All positions are paid and hours are flexible to fit in with other commitments.

When required, all members of staff will be provided with the necessary PPE kit and the North West Association of Directors of Adult Social Services is continuously working with DHSC to ensure these supplies are made available.
