Most part-time jobs will include long hours, awful pay and if you’re lucky, you might have a window to look out of, but five aspiring adventurers are now one step closer to securing what could be Britain’s ultimate part-time job.

Charlie Hainsworth, aged 19 from Derby; Joy Mumford, aged 23 from Nottingham; Imogen Done, aged 19 from Ilminster; Ben Hudson, aged 23 from Salisbury, and Maddie Drury, aged 17 from York, beat off stiff competition from almost 800 travel seekers and are now looking for support from the Great British public in order to become National Rail’s Chief Adventure Officer (CAO).

The new role, which has been created for 16-25 Railcard, will see the winning candidate vlog their way around Great Britain by train on paid for trips to destinations of their choice – and paid £10,000 for the privilege.

Daniela Maki, Railcards Product Manager for National Rail, said: “We were overwhelmed by the high standard and incredible number of entries. The final five all created exceptional vlogs which really stood out against the competition, showing their sense of adventure and desire to share travel experiences.

“For the role of CAO, we are looking for someone who can inspire young people to travel to exciting places across Great Britain and show how easy it can be to jump on the train and visit incredible destinations. Now it’s over to the Great British public to decide which finalist should win the ultimate part-time job by placing their vote.”
