The Bakewell Tart Shop, home of the one and only original Bakewell Tart recipe, is delighted to launch its special Easter Iced Cherry Bakewell Tart – topped with a chocolate mini egg instead of the traditional cherry.
Lovingly handmade in Bakewell using a secret recipe known to just two people, the tarts are now available to order online for nationwide delivery or to pick up in person from the Bakewell Tart Shop and Café, located at 18 Matlock Street, Bakewell – the historic Derbyshire market town where Bakewell Tarts and Puddings were first commercially baked.
Each 6-inch tart is priced at £18.65 including postage, and features the same irresistible layers – a buttery shortcrust pastry shell, raspberry jam, a rich almond frangipane ‘wet mix’ filling (unique to the original recipe), and a smooth iced top – finished with a chocolate mini egg for a festive Easter twist.
Made with high-quality ingredients, including real ground almonds (never almond essence) and proper butter, these are a world away from the dry, overly sweet, mass-produced versions found in supermarkets.
“This is a fun seasonal take on a true British classic,” said Duncan Kirk, Managing Director and owner of The Bakewell Tart Shop. “People often don’t realise that our tarts are the only original – made with a moister ‘wet mix’ recipe that’s been passed down for over 100 years. Everything else is a copy. These Easter tarts are a great way to enjoy that heritage, with a little chocolate treat on top.”
Available now at bakewelltarts.co.uk/shop, these limited-edition tarts are the perfect centrepiece for Easter celebrations or a thoughtful gift for family and friends.
The Bakewell Tart Shop is a family-owned business, delivering Traditional Bakewell Tarts, Iced Cherry Bakewell Tarts, and Bakewell Puddings across the UK. Gluten-free and vegan options are also available.
The onsite café serves breakfast, lunch, traditional cream teas, and a range of local bakes and cakes. Popular savoury options include Homity Pie, Huntsman Pie, and Peak Pasty, while sweet treats like Eccles cakes, Millionaire’s Shortbread, and freshly baked scones keep visitors coming back for more.
