Following the success of last year’s competition The Cathedral are pleased to announce that this year’s photography competition, Capture the Cathedral, is now open!
They are inviting photographers of all ages to capture the Cathedral, with all its nooks and crannies, in different and imaginative ways. The competition will close on Friday 8 July 2016.
The categories in the photography competition are Architecture and Stained Glass, Something Different
This photograph can be of anything inside or outside the Cathedral. We are looking for a photograph that is unusual for whatever reason and The Cathedral at Night
One winner will be chosen in each category by a panel of judges, including MEN photographer, Vincent Cole and BBC Radio Manchester presenter, Mike Shaft. The judging panel will also select an overall winner who will be ‘The Official Photographer for Manchester Cathedral 2016’. The overall winner will be invited to photograph events at the Cathedral.
The overall winner will receive one night’s accommodation with bed and breakfast for two sponsored by the Renaissance Manchester and a meal for two sponsored by the Harvey Nichols Manchester.
A selection of entries will be exhibited in the Cathedral from Saturday 30 July to Thursday 25 August 2016. The winners will be announced at the Capture the Cathedral Exhibition Launch on Friday 29 July. During the exhibition members of the public will be given the opportunity to vote for their favourite photo.
