Salford’s Ten Locks is celebrating a successful first year of business, having made its mark on the UK drinks sector, established an ever-expanding portfolio of conscious, progressive spirits brands, and has welcomed Kieran Lyons to the team.

During its first year of operations, Ten Locks has built momentum nationally, adding twelve new progressive brands – 42 new lines – to the portfolio, all selected for either their sustainable production methods, focus on employee wellbeing, the local community, philanthropic intentions, positive contributions to society, and/or excellence in product quality.

The first brands to join the portfolio were Nusa Caña Indonesian rum, Australian Applewood gin and West Cork Irish whiskey – all forward-thinking brands that are unique, innovative and a positive force in drinks and business. The latest addition is the four-strong El Tequileño 1959 premium tequila range, set to appeal to die-hard tequila fans and those looking for new, high end luxury spirits with a compelling story behind them.

Kieran Lyons joins Ten Locks as London account manager, bringing five years’ experience in cocktail making at some of London’s top bars, including Heads and Tails and London Cocktail Club. Kieran will be responsible for managing key on-trade accounts for Ten Locks across the capital – a critical piece of territory for premium spirits. He will extend the reach of the firm’s portfolio of conscious brands across a range of venues and work alongside operators to offer drinks development support and deliver premium drinks experiences.

Becky Davies, head of commercial at Ten Locks, says, “We’re celebrating this landmark achievement and we’re immensely proud of how far we have come in our first year of operations. Some of our highlights include seeing The Salford Rum Company secure some of its first national retail listings, witnessing the first pour of El Tequileño tequila in Ramona campfire and margarita bar, Manchester, and bringing gin and it should be with Langley’s Gin to the UK.

We can credibly say our portfolio includes some of the world’s best conscious spirits brands, despite the challenges the Covid-19 pandemic presented the industry.

It is amazing to work so closely with our specially selected brands that are either certified B Corps, and producers or cooperatives with philanthropic intentions – they really bring to life the values of our business. We’ve deepened our knowledge and networks within the hospitality and retail sectors and built our client base and consumer reach significantly, and we’ve got ambitious growth plans for 2022 and beyond.

I’ve had the pleasure of expanding our team to include some incredible talent, which has been fundamental to our success, and Kieran joins us at a very exciting time for the business as we have some really creative and innovative projects in the pipeline.

We are overwhelmed with all the industry support we have had so far and we thank all our customers, suppliers, partners and peers for their support, encouragement and guidance.”

Ten Locks’ portfolio includes Bourgoin Cognac, Salford Rum, Mary White Vodka, Nusa Caña Rum, Applewood Gin, Diablesse Rum, Banhez Mezcal, El Tequileño, Langley’s Gin, Redwood Empire and West Cork Irish Whiskey.
