A teenager has been sentenced to 18 months in a young offender institution after admitting attacking two members of staff at a Manchester city centre restaurant.

Shane Stevens, 18, pleaded guilty to two assaults at Akbar’s on Liverpool Road in August last year

Manchester Magistrates Youth Court was told the two staff members were slashed to the face with a bladed article.

Stevens, of Sutton Road, Church Broughton, Derbyshire, was ordered to pay £200 compensation to both victims when he appeared in court on 16 March 2021.

DC Louise Kelly said: “This was a good result for the victims, who suffered greatly after this crime.

“Hopefully they can now start to rebuild their lives and move on from the distressing events of that evening.”
