A leading collective of Manchester’s hospitality creatives have joined forces to unveil a new arthouse, music hall and canteen destination, located quite literally between the tracks of Salford Central Station and between the cities of Manchester and Salford

Situated just down from Crazy Pedros and Dishoom. The creative collaborators have spent over a year transforming two historic railway arches into Tangerine a creative labyrinth of the city’s finest food, drink, music, and art.

At the heart of Tangerine are the Canteen Kitchens. A new platform for Manchester’s true independent eateries.

Seven handpicked kitchens have been curated to serve up some of the city’s most forward thinking food in the city. The opening line-up includes VANDA – a family run Parisian-inspired Ukrainian bakery,Pantera HOT TACO– new Mexican taqueria. JUICY, serving the city’s juiciest burger and YO DUTCHIE, a Dutch-Japanese collaboration where loaded fries and Yakitori skewers collide and also a new Korean + Ramen concept from the creators of Unagi… and more to be unveiled.

The Canteen concept will be complemented by a florist, an in-house coffee roastery serving beans roasted daily on-site, a delicatessen featuring the best local produce, and a curated wine store and bottle shop. The Cantina Collective is designed to evolve with the seasons. Independent kitchens are being supported by Manchester’s WANT Studios, heading up with Want Exec Chef Will Taplin previously of Ramona

Grand Departures

Preserving the industrial character of the railway arches, the Grand Departures bar features an expansive taproom with 40 taps serving beers from near and far and a striking espresso martini bar built directly into the original brickwork. This dramatic space will serve as a central hub for craft beer lovers and cocktail seekers alike, marrying Manchester’s history with a forward-thinking drinking experience. Expect an innovative list of signature cocktails, rotating beer taps, and a drinks programme designed to surprise and delight.

Arthouse & Music Hall

TANGERINE is more than a place to eat and drink – it is a cultural stage. The venue’s Arthouse has been created as a cinematic and performance platform, hosting immersive screenings, installations, and experimental art events. Alongside this, the dedicated Music Hall will spotlight both established and emerging talent, providing an intimate setting for live music across all genres. Together, these spaces aim to foster a thriving hub for creativity, giving independent artists and performers a platform to connect with audiences in fresh, dynamic ways.

Artyom Dmitrijev, Owner Tangerine / Mala, shared:

“Over a year in the making, we’ve used all our experience in design, interiors, architecture and hospitality to create our dream project. A place for all the independents to come together and thrive.”

Andy Windsor, Director of WANT STUDIOS added:

“Tangerine unites the city’s independent kitchens, bar tenders, bakeries and entertainment specialists. It is a unique showcase of what we do in the city. Tangerine isn’t just another venue – A new space for creativity, food, and culture, and we’re proud to be part of it.

It officially opens to the public on Friday 31st October with a huge Halloween weekender, inviting the city to explore its maze of spaces and be part of its first chapter. The programme will feature live music, DJ sets, pop-up performances, and exclusive food and drink offerings from the Cantina Collective.
