Bruntwood are delighted to announce that the Stretford Community Fete, in honour of Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, will be taking place on Thursday 2nd June.

The family-friendly jubilee celebration will be taking place outside Stretford Mall and in the grounds of St Matthew’s Church from 12.00pm-6.00pm. A free and fun day out for all the family, visitors can expect a vibrant festival atmosphere with popup play areas, food, drink, live music and more.

There’ll be a Jubilee craft area where children and parents can come together to create a very special Stretford Platinum Jubilee Patchwork Wall Hanging. Families will be able to decorate individual fabric squares which will then be tied together with  ribbons to make a unique, people-powered new wall hanging for display in the Mall. There’ll also be an imaginative pop up space and a small world construction room with children’s activities.

As well as crafting, local expert Jennie Wandsworth will be leading a forest craft area including den building, tool skills and bush craft to take away.

Local community groups and traders will be popping up at King Street Square with the likes of Little Green Sock Project and Stretford in Bloom already confirmed.

The Play Cafe will be hosting hot and cold drinks from a community bar and pop up food traders will be serving up a feast of flavours.

The village fete feel will be embraced over at St Matthew’s too as the area will be transformed with jubilee themed bunting, a tombola and sustainable hay bales and pallets for visitors to rest up and enjoy the day.

Honouring the tradition of the jubilee celebrations, classic games will also be a feature of the fete, with a coconut shy, hook a duck stand and dominos stand alongside an appearance from the Jubilee Bunny and Gruffalo and a very special Little Groovers session.

Alongside the kids’ activities, there’ll be live band throughout the day  courtesy of local community group NG:L

The whole family is welcome to join in all the fun of fete and of course, best Jubilee outfits are encouraged.
