A Section 60 stop and search order was implemented last night and will continue during the day in Pendleton after a serious assault last night
The assault on the man in alleyway on Mather Way occurred around 11pm
The victim received treatment for his injuries in hospital which are not believed to be life-changing or life-threatening
The S60 stop and search order covers Nursery Street, Seedley Road, Fitzwarren Street, Heywood Way, Hankinson Way, Belvedere Road and the A6.
Detective Inspector Steve Hughes said: “We understand that members of the local community are going to concerned regarding this incident, but we do believe that it is a targeted attack and there is no threat to the wider community.
“However, there will be an increased police presence over the next few days, as we endeavour to trace the offender and bring him into custody. We have also implemented a S60 for the next few hours (see map), which allows us to stop and search people or vehicles for weapons.
“We are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who has CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage of the area at the time of the offence.
