Merseyway Shopping Centre in Stockport is flushed with success after scooping three major wins at the Loo of the Year Awards 2026, taking home titles recognising the remarkable transformation of its public washrooms.
The award-winning facilities include modern, spacious and immaculately maintained toilets, a calm and dedicated prayer room, fully accessible adult changing spaces complete with hoists, and a private, comfortable baby feeding and changing room created to support families with ease.
Recognised as the benchmark for excellence across washrooms in the UK, the Loo of the Year Awards recognise the need for ‘away from home’ washrooms to be of the highest standard in terms of accessibility, hygiene, repair and facilities.
Speaking on the triple win, Victoria Nichol, Centre Manager at Merseyway said, “We’re absolutely thrilled to have won not one, but three awards at the National Loo of the Year Awards. Together, our thoughtfully designed spaces provide a dignified, stress-free experience for all visitors and staff, setting a new benchmark for inclusivity and reinforcing Merseyway’s commitment to being a welcoming destination for everyone.”
Cllr Micheala Meikle, Cabinet Member for Economy, Regeneration and Skills at Stockport Council, said: “Congratulations to the Merseyway team on this fantastic triple win! Every week, thousands of shoppers visit the centre, and Stockroom alone welcomes over 100,000 visitors a month, so having clean, accessible, and welcoming facilities is more important than ever.”
“These awards are a brilliant recognition of the team’s dedication and hard work in creating a space that’s welcoming for everyone, whether people are shopping, attending events or visiting Stockroom.”
