The Jamaica international becomes the Club’s new record signing, eclipsing the fee paid to Nottingham Forest for Ian Moore in 1998, with Malik signing a three-year deal at Edgeley Park with the option for an additional year.

The 21-year-old joins having just enjoyed a breakthrough season in League One, scoring 16 times and registering ten assists in all competitions; helping Posh to retain the Vertu Trophy with victory against Birmingham City at Wembley. His performances over his 57 appearances saw him named as the Club’s Young Player of the Year.

Prior to that, Mothersille was in Leyton Orient’s academy before joining Chelsea as an Under 16. He went on to become a scholar at Stamford Bridge, playing in the same squad as the likes of Omari Hutchinson, Lewis Hall and Josh Acheampong during his time in their academy.

County CEO, Simon Wilson said:

“We are delighted to welcome Malik to the Club, as he joins us for the next phase of our journey. He is rightly seen as one of the most exciting young players in the EFL, and we believe we are getting him at exactly the right time for him to become the prolific player we know he can be.

“The clubs competing for his signing show the company that County is starting to keep, and with the backing and support of many people, we’ve managed to get the deal done. We’re very excited that Malik will now be a County player.”

First-Team Manager, Dave Challinor said:

“Attracting Malik to the Club is a massive positive. He was a player that was on our list, but we thought that not reaching the Championship last season may have scuppered any hopes we had. This represents a big investment from the Club into what we feel is one of the brightest prospects in the EFL.
