Northern mayors have mocked the Government for a tweet announcing £235m of transport funding under the “Network North” logo – for roads in London

The tweet which appeared earlier today said

“We’ve confirmed funding for each London borough to ensure millions of road users enjoy smoother and safer journeys.

This is only possible due to £8.3 billion of extra investment from redirected HS2 funding, enough to resurface up to 5,000 miles of roads across the country.”

Andy Burnham tweeted

“A Parliament which began with promises of “levelling up” ends with money promised to the North being redirected back to London.”

While Mayor of West Yorkshire Tracey Brabin said:

“I know the north isn’t a priority for this government but seriously.”
