City Centre bars Walrus,Tusk,Rosylee and the Blue Pig have closed after the Company behind them Mark Andrew Developments (MAD) has gone into liquidation.

All three of the Hula bars across Manchester also shut their doors yesterday with the loss of 125 jobs.

MAD was formed in 2004 with the opening of the M20 bar in Didsbury later to come under the Hula brand.

It was also behind the Lazy Lizard bar in the Printworks which just last month after being open for just ten months.

Manchester’s night time Czar Sacha Lord tweeted on hearing the news

“Sadly, a large operator, with many bars in the Northern Quarter has just closed its doors and gone into liquidation. Some great bars amongst the group. I expect there will be a quick rescue package. Large job losses, I hope the operator deals with them correctly #northernquarter”

The group had only recently acquired the Northern Quarter bar The Blue Pig
