Seven police vehicles were damaged after police dispersed a crowd of around 300 people who had gathered for an illegal music event at Boggart Hole Clough in North Manchester yesterday evening
Following the dispersal, tyres were slashed on seven police cars and a windscreen smashed on one vehicle by unknown individuals near the entrance to the park on Charlestown Road.
Six of the cars have been repaired but one remains off the road today (3 August). No officers were injured.
No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.
Chief Inspector Simon Nasim, of GMP’s City of Manchester’s north division, said: “Thankfully our officers were able to put a swift end to the event and prevent further large numbers from attending, as well as ensuring a safe and orderly exit.
“Although many would have attended to have a good time unfortunately, some have not attended with the same intentions and seven police vehicles were damaged.
“Those responsible have shown a blatant disregard towards our communities and our ability to service emergency calls.
“They should wake up this morning feeling shameful of their actions and not proud.”
