The Great Northern has announced who will be taking over its Community Kitchen on the Square for the bank holiday weekend, complete with a DJ, and it will not disappoint.

This week, expect fresh flavours and truly authentic Neapolitan street food dishes courtesy of Manchester’s best-loved, authentic, independent restaurant, Salvi’s.

From arancini with ragu or pesto to croquettes with mortadella and pistachio, sausage and friarielli to pizza frittas with either ricotta or mozzarella and tomato, every dish will transport you to the shores of southern Italy.

All dishes are the perfect size to share with friends or family or treat yourself to a couple for an indulgent, Italian experience.

And it does not stop with the food; Salvi’s will be serving up Italian tipples with including the finest meloncello, direct from Italy.

Enjoy Limoncello, Aperol, or Meloncello Spritz’, along with classic red or white wines, or an ice-cold pint of Estrella Damm, which is a sponsor of the community kitchen.

Enjoy music and get into the bank holiday spirit with the Community Kitchen’s very first DJ, who will be spinning tunes on Friday at 16:00-19:30.

The Salvi’s dining experience will be open from 12:00-21:00 Friday to Sunday. No need to book, simply pop down and enjoy drinks and food outdoors either solo or with the rest of your household.

With a jam-packed schedule, the pop-up space has already welcomed tapas from Evuna, and fully loaded burgers from Impossible with South Manny Flavaz.

The pop-up restaurant on the square provides a COVID-secure space for local businesses that are restricted with limited outdoor dining space. The weekly four day takeovers allow these restaurants to serve up their delicious cuisine right in the heart of Manchester.

All diners will experience table service to reduce close contact and ensure social distancing to kept at all times.

“We’re excited to welcome one of the city’s best-loved eateries, Salvi’s, and I’m sure visitors to the Great Northern will love the authentic flavours of southern Italy which will be on offer at our pop-up kitchen throughout the Bank Holiday.”
