Salford is set to welcome 410 new central government jobs by 2025.
The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and Home Office announced on Wednesday that a total of 3,000 government jobs are set to be moved to regions outside of London as part of the Places for Growth Scheme to bring policy makers closer to communities and support economic growth.
Salford is set significantly benefit from a major move by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, securing the lion’s share of job relocations.
BEIS is a ministerial department, supported by 46 agencies and public bodies.
The other areas set to benefit from one third of BEIS’s roles placed outside London are Birmingham, Cardiff and Darlington, Belfast and Edinburgh.
The announcement was made by Business Secretary Kwasi Kwarteng and Home Secretary Priti Patel.
Salford is also listed as one of the areas expected to benefit from an increase in Home Office personnel, including senior civil service roles.
